What is on-page SEO?
On-page SEO covers everything on your own website that affects how it ranks: the words on the page, how they're structured, the page title and description Google shows, image optimisation, internal links and technical markup. It's the foundation every other SEO effort is built on.
What's included
- Keyword research and mapping to each page
- Rewriting title tags and meta descriptions
- Heading structure and content improvements
- Internal linking strategy
- Schema markup (LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ)
- Image compression and alt text
- Core Web Vitals and mobile checks
On-page SEO for up to 6 pages is included in our Growth and Premium website packages. For ongoing growth, see our full SEO service.
Why on-page SEO comes first
Links and ads work much better when the page they point to is already well optimised. If a page targets the wrong keyword, has a vague title or doesn't answer what searchers want, it will struggle to rank however much promotion it gets. On-page SEO fixes that foundation, which is why it's often the fastest SEO win.
Our on-page SEO checklist
- One clear primary keyword per page, with no cannibalisation between pages
- Title tags under 60 characters, with the keyword near the start
- Meta descriptions that encourage clicks
- A single, descriptive H1 and logical H2/H3 structure
- Content that fully answers search intent, including FAQs
- Descriptive internal links between related pages
- Image alt text, compression and modern formats
- LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ and Breadcrumb schema
- Clean, readable URLs and canonical tags
One-off optimisation or ongoing SEO
On-page SEO can be a one-off project, which suits a new website or one that has never been optimised. For competitive keywords, we recommend following it with an ongoing Perth SEO campaign that adds content, local SEO and links. Learn more in our guide: what is on-page SEO?
